WHAT DESCRIBES ME BEST:
Professional, dedicated, and innovative are the three adjectives that Dorion uses to describe himself. Benefits of Massage Massage therapy offers relief to people of all ages—from infants to seniors—and from all walks of life—the weekend or highlycompetitive athlete to overstressed, overworked executives.
Treating the Body Massage therapy addresses a variety of health conditions, the most prevalent being stress-related tension, which, experts believe, accounts for 80%-90% of disease. Massage also fosters peace of mind and a mind-body connection.
Massage has many positive physiological effects:
Increasing circulation, allowing the body to pump more oxygen and nutrients into tissues and vital organs—vital for competitive athletes.
Stimulating the lymph system, the body’s natural defense, against toxic invaders.
Relaxing and softening injured and overused muscles.
Reducing spasms and cramping.
Reducing recovery time for strenuous workouts and eliminating subsequent pains of the athlete at any level.
Massage for Athletes Athletes of every level can benefit tremendously from massage therapy. Whether training for competition or exercising for general health, the serious athlete follows a training program to help achieve personal goals. Supplements, carbo-loading, peak-performance training are all part of a good training program. Massage is increasingly seen as essential to achieving optimal effects in peak performance and stamina.
With proper massage, athletes experience less injury and faster recovery when injuries do occur. Several types of massage are recommended for athletes: pre-competition massage and post-competition massage, as well as regular therapeutic massage.
A pre-competition massage incorporates techniques designed to stimulate circulation, calm nervous tension, and prepare the body for peak performance while warming and stretching muscles to increases their flexibility and reducing the chance of serious injury.
A post-competition massage, best and most effective one to two hours after an event; relieves swelling caused by the damage and encourages blood flow to the muscles. Post-competition massage also reduces stiffness and cramping, and helps speed recovery time.
