COACH JAY LABONNE
Strength and Conditioning/Triathlon Coach
Coach and Personal Trainer since 1985
Coach Jay LaBonne has been coaching athletes since 1985. "I enjoy working with athletes because they bring a high level of motivation to each workout and they are goal orientated".
He works with athletes of all ages and disciplines. "I train some Figure skaters for off-ice conditioning as young as 7-8 years old and I have some triathletes training and competing into their 70's".
Coach Jay currently trains athletes in bike racing, figure skating, triathlons, dancing, and football, including two local teams, the Kenosha Velosport bike racing team and the Kenosha Thunder soccer team U-12.
"My passion for coaching comes from seeing athletes progress in their training and achieving a level they never thought possible of themselves. My philosophy is that you don't win or lose the day of competition, you win or lose in your training program and daily workouts. You need to periodize your training into a year round program. Get out of your comfort zone if you want to excel in sports."

"Sports training is like life: you must have goals and a plan to reach those goals. To simply compete in a race, is not a true goal; one must feel passionate about the sport and truly enjoy the journey to reach the competition date. To achieve a high level of performance, an athlete must find a balance between hard and easy workouts; proper nutrition, incorporate periodization throughout the year, and always find time to share with family and friends. A true athlete is happy with his/her accomplishments, whether it is winning a trophy or just finishing a race."
